The testimony of Sheila Opper

It has been 30 years since I asked Jesus to live in me, change me and become the Lord of my life. It hasn’t been a smooth ride all those years. However, God has been faithful through it all.
Most of those years we experienced the love, goodness, joy and peace of the Almighty God. We saw family members give their life to the Lord. We saw miracles take place and lives restored. But, there were some tough times as well. We have gone through some financial issues, family issues, health issues, and the loss of family members very dear to us, especially my dad and a baby granddaughter. But through all these things, God has always been there to comfort us. It is through the love and compassion of wonderful family and friends that we were able to get through these tough times. If I had not known there was life after death, a beautiful heaven with streets of gold, I don’t know how I would have handled those situations.
In His Word, God tells us, “Without wavering, let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have, for God can be trusted to keep His promise. Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of His coming back again is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:23-25.
We do have hope in God’s Word, we do know He can be trusted to keep His promises. We do know that it is a good thing to meet together with other Christians to encourage one another. There were many times I needed to hear that word of encouragement to keep going through the tough situations. There were times I needed to be reminded that God keeps His promises and that Jesus is coming back again and all will be well.
Don’t give up – God isn’t finished with any of us yet! If you are going through some tough times, remember that God is faithful. He will see you through. You need to trust in Him and seek His face above all else.

The testimony of Terry Opper

Hi, my name is Terry Opper. I have been with Days of Grace Fellowship since its inception in 1996. My wife, Sheila, has been the secretary most of that time.
I come from a church background, but didn’t personally know Jesus Christ until nearly my thirty-third birthday when Sheila and I gave our hearts to Jesus at her sister’s home. That was thirty years ago. Much of that time I lived a pretty phony life, putting on a good show but really not dealing with besetting sins in my life. Chief among these sins was smoking pot, which the Lord delivered me from thirteen years ago. Even as a “Spirit-filled Christian”, I still rebelled against what I knew to be true, convinced in my own mind that my way was best for me. It took me years to discover what other people could discover quite quickly, that God’s way was best for me. Finally, a little at a time, I grasped this little nugget of truth. As I did surrender my will by faith, He proved Himself to me by His love in me.
This is my testimony, not what I was, but what I am becoming. The changes in me are within me, rather than without. Those changes are not so noticeable from outside; after all I was a master of disguise at that anyway. But now I’m at peace with myself and have learned how, not just to listen, but to do God’s will. There is still a long hard road ahead of me, but I am gaining more and more confidence in my Leader as we travel it together.

May God bless you also,

Terry Opper
