| Trailer's Vision | ||||
It is said that Hurricane Katrina was the costliest and one of the five deadliest hurricanes in the history of the United States. This Atlantic storm grew from a Category 3 to a Category 5 hurricane (up to 175MPH winds) in just nine hours after entering the Gulf of Mexico, and on August 29, 2005, it struck the gulf coast doing damages up to $81.2 billion. The hurricane caused severe destruction across the entire Mississippi coast and into Alabama, as far as 100 miles from the storm's center. Shortly, after this catastrophic event, Days of Grace joined forces with the Methodist church of Morton, IL in an effort to assist those is need in the Laural, Bay St. Louis, and Biloxi, Mississippi areas. We were given opportunities to help in ways we had never imagined. Several teams made up to 7 trips, taking both supplies and offering much physical aid in numerous areas. Since then it has been our desire to make ourselves available for disaster relief wherever it may be. We found that pickups and RV’s weren’t enough, so we purchased our “disaster relief trailer” in July of 2008. We are scheduling special training from the Salvation Army to help us be prepared wherever/whenever disaster strikes. Please, feel free to contact us through this site for more information about this outreach project. If you would like to give a donation towards our efforts in the form of tools and equipment to supply our trailer, or a monitary gift, we will be glad to furnish you with a charitable receipt at the end of the year. Please see our list of needs and check back often to see our progress. Please pray that God will use us in a manner to bring Him much praise and glory. Jesus said in Matt 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. |
